Andy Yanchus Prototypes - PART 2

Andy Y Pic

After Andy and I traded emails a few times in 2005, I sent him some pics from my collection.

In one of the pics was the Purple Plated Green Hornet prototype car I obtained from the Ken Hill collection sold by Model Motoring in 1998. It came with a T-Jet chassis under it. See pic below.

Andy explained to me that Aurora had planned on producing a Speedline Green Hornet and Batmobile "Push" car. The 2 cars were pictured in the 1969 Toy Fair Catalog but never made it to production due to the extra cost of licensing.

He said when he left Aurora he kept the Speedline prototype "Black Beauty" metal chassis that was supposed to go with the purple plated Green Hornet I had. Andy said he would get it to me when he could find it in his massive toy collection.

I never heard back about it again.

Andy passed away on September 11, 1921. He was 77.

Fast forward to April 27, 2024.

Andy's only relative, his sister, contracted with an auction house in CT to sell off his massive toy collection.

This was done over a period of 19 months with 5 different auctions, from September, 2022 to April, 2024.

The proceeds from the 5 auctions brought in well over 1 million $'s.

I anxiously watched each auction waiting for any Aurora slot car prototypes to come up.

Then finally, at the end of the last auction, there they were.

The Speedline metal prototype chassis for the Green Hornet and the Batmobile.

But this was just part of a much larger collection of Andy's Aurora slot car artifacts that included T-Jet, Cigarbox, Speedline and never produced lines.

Below are pics of the items I acquired from the Andy Yanchus slot car collection.
